Your menu

The job of the Catering Manager is to take the lead in planning the menu for your coffee shop.

Download this checklist and keep it up to date with the tasks you will need to do.

Some options are provided in the costings spreadsheet. Select up to 10 drinks, 5 snacks and 4 sweets (highlight or mark the ones you choose on the spreadsheet)

Once the coffee shop opens, you will make a profit by making your retail (sale) prices higher than your cost prices (how much each item or its ingredients cost you). You have decided to mark up your prices by 30%.

There is space to add your own ideas if you like (you’ll need to estimate or research the cost price and calculate the retail price).

At the launch event you will be giving 100 people the chance to sample items from your menu for free. Will you provide a sample of all items on your menu or just some of them? How much of each item will you provide?

For each item you want to provide at the launch, fill in the number required - the cost price for each item and the total cost price for the event will calculate automatically. Because you won't be charging customers for food and drink at the launch, you don't need to worry about retail prices.

It is up to you how much you spend on food and drink for the launch event, but you might want to keep within a budget of approx £250.
